Along with his playoff picks, Mejia also forecasts the four bowls that will also be picked by the selection committee. Included below are his conference rankings and weekly Top 25 poll as well.
National Championship Game
Florida State vs. Alabama
Nick Saban vs. Jameis Winston in college football's dream matchup -- a Southern Super Bowl.
Sugar Bowl, Semifinal 1 vs. 4
Alabama vs. Oklahoma
In this scenario, the Iron Bowl winner ascends to No. 1 ahead of the defending champs, drawing the Big 12's best.
Rose Bowl, Semifinal 2 vs. 3
Florida State vs. Oregon
An undefeated SEC champion rightfully rewarded with a top seed would likely deliver this bonus gift, a showdown between the country's top two QB prospects and likely Heisman finalists.
Auburn vs. Notre Dame
At least a trip to Miami is a nice consolation prize for the losers of the Iron Bowl, giving Brian Kelly and the Irish another crack at the SEC.
Georgia vs. Wisconsin
Think people would tune in for a showdown between elite tailbacks Todd Gurley and Melvin Gordon?
LSU vs. Baylor
Art Briles would love to be in a playoff semifinal, but beating other state schools that could be in this mix would be another win for Waco. This would also be a great landing spot for Les Miles' young Tigers.
UCLA vs. Texas A&M
Spread overload and likely a worn out scoreboard awaits if Todd Hundley and Kenny Hill duel in Atlanta.
Way to go, Texas. On the cusp of winning the day since Oklahoma was stomping out Tennessee and West Virginia squeaked past Maryland, the Longhorns failed to hold up at home against UCLA despite Heisman Trophy hopeful Brett Hundley getting knocked out early. In spite of rival Southern California's loss at Boston College, the Bruins hanging on in Austin was enough to hang on to the No. 2 spot in these rankings. East Carolina taking down Virginia Tech, Cincinnati routing Toledo and UCF hanging at Missouri for three quarters is enough to leapfrog a disappointing Mountain West, whose best result was probably Nevada's near-miss at Arizona.1) SEC
3) Big 12
5) Big Ten
6) American Athletic
7) Mountain West
9) Conference USA
10) Sun Belt
Dropped out: Louisville (16), Virginia Tech (21)
On the cusp: Penn State, Pittsburgh, Missouri, Arizona, Marshall, Utah, Louisville, Clemson, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, West Virginia, Cincinnati
