AMHERST, N.Y. (AP) -James Starks ran for 177 yards and two touchdowns to lead Buffalo to a 37-17 victory over Miami of Ohio on Tuesday night.

Starks' 62-yard run for a touchdown in the fourth quarter sealed the win for the Bulls (5-4, 3-2 Mid-American Conference). It was his third TD run of 50 yards or more this season.

The teams were given an exemption by the NCAA to wear their home colors for the Election Night game. Miami donned its home red uniforms and Buffalo its traditional royal blues to reflect the 2004 election results of the school's home states.

Drew Willy finished 18-of-29 for 245 yards and two touchdowns for Buffalo, tying Marty Barrett's school record of 44 career TD passes.

Willy hit Brett Hamlin with a 25-yard strike in the second quarter that gave the Bulls a 21-10 lead. Naaman Roosevelt caught eight passes for 148 yards and a touchdown.

Miami's Clay Belton was 17-of-30 for 178 yards and ran for a 7-yard touchdown before being shaken up in the fourth quarter. J.R. Taylor ran for 69 yards for the RedHawks (2-7, 1-4), including a 3-yard TD run.

Willy scored on a 1-yard plunge set up by a 36-yard completion to Roosevelt that was first ruled a touchdown then overturned.

Miami answered with a 39-yard field goal by Nathan Parseghian, but Willy and Roosevelt connected again, this time for 34 yards and a 14-3 lead.

Belton led the RedHawks on a 13-play, 88-yard drive, scoring on a 7-yard draw to make it 14-10.
