Villanova's Mark Hamilton kicked a 21-yard field goal to close the gap to 21-17 in the fourth quarter, but on the Wildcats' final two possessions, John Robertson threw interceptions - both to Darryl Hamilton - to hand Richmond (4-2, 2-1) the win.
Robertson threw three interceptions and lost one fumble.
