Dickerson, 41, was 7-15 overall and 4-8 in Big South Conference play during his two seasons with the school.

No replacement has been named.

Gardner-Webb vice president for athletics Chuck Burch says ``I appreciate the time and effort Ron put into our football program, and wish him the best as he moves forward with his career. We look forward to bringing on board a coach who is committed to developing a program that will allow our football team to be successful on the field, in the classroom and the community.''

Dickerson was the eighth head coach in Gardner-Webb's 43-season history of college football.
