SEC Network TV launch looming
July 16, 2014
HOOVER, Ala. (AP) - Some Southeastern Conference fans are still waiting to see if the SEC Network will be available in their living rooms next month.
The network will carry 45 football games in the upcoming season. ESPN and the SEC have already reached deals with providers like DISH Network, Cox Communications and AT&T U-Verse.
Talks continue with other major providers.
Justin Connolly, ESPN's senior vice president in charge of programming for college networks, says it's not unusual for such negotiations to go down to the wire.
Connolly says he's confident of resolutions ''based on the demand that's out there among SEC fans.''
LSU coach Les Miles was pleased about the recent Cox deal because ''now, I won't have to change my cable provider.''
