Introduction
VegasInsider.com, Inc.'s "College Football Handicapping Challenge"
Welcome to VegasInsider.com, Inc.'s free "College Football Handicapping Challenge." The "College Football Handicapping Challenge" is a skill competition based on the results of regular season (American) college (NCAA) football games. Each week, participants will be asked to select five teams that they anticipate will cover the point spread (point spreads will be based on official Las Vegas odds and will always include a 1/2-point designation to avoid "pushes" or ties). Participants will win cash and other prizes based on their percentage of correct picks over the course of the entire season. Also, weekly prizes will be awarded to the participant with the most correct picks during each week of the regular (American) college (NCAA) football season (see "Prizes" section below.)

Your participation expressly signifies your agreement to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and the Legal Disclaimers, and by the decisions of VegasInsider.com, Inc., which are final and binding on any and all matters pertaining to this contest.
Administration
By participating, you further agree that VegasInsider.com, Inc. will serve as the sole administrator for the "College Football Handicapping Challenge" and will be solely responsible for resolving any and all disputes that may arise.
Registration
Signing Up
No purchase necessary. It is free to play the "College Football Handicapping Challenge." Participants must have a VegasInsider.com ID. How to register for a free VegasInsider.com ID: when you sign up for the "College Football Handicapping Challenge," if you do not have a VegasInsider.com ID, you will be guided on-line through the process of obtaining a free VegasInsider.com ID. To be considered a valid entry, each participant must use his or her real (legal) name; any use of pseudonyms, nicknames or trade names is expressly prohibited. Each participant shall be entitled to only one entry in this contest.
Point Spreads, Making Picks, Earning Points and Resolving Ties
After you sign up, you will have access to an on-line form for submitting your weekly picks. To properly submit your picks, you must select the five (5) teams (from five different games) that you feel will cover the point spread in the matchup for each week of the regular (American) college (NCAA) football season (the games and teams will be selected and listed each week by VegasInsider.com,Inc. in the sole and absolute discretion of VegasInsider.com, Inc.). In no event shall a participant be permitted to select both teams in any one game matchup. Point spreads, based on the then-current official Las Vegas odds, will be loaded on the website, by 12:00 noon ET every Tuesday, and will not change thereafter (absent material errors). Point spreads will always include a 1/2-point designation to avoid "pushes" or ties.
Participants must also enter a predicted number of combined points for both teams playing in a designated regular (American) college (NCAA) football game to be played on each Saturday for each week of the regular (American) college (NCAA) football season (regardless of whether such game is one of the participant's five picks for any such week). This point prediction will be used solely for the purpose of determining a weekly winner in the event of a tie. The participant whose predicted point total is closest to, without exceeding, the actual point total will be deemed to win the tie-breaker. If that point prediction does not break the tie, the participant with the then highest cumulative point total will be declared the weekly prize winner. If that method does not break the tie, the participant who first submitted his/her final picks for that week (according to VegasInsider.com's records and/or log files) will be declared the weekly prize winner. VegasInsider.com, Inc.'s determination of any such winner shall be final, conclusive and binding in all respects and VegasInsider.com, Inc. shall have absolutely no obligation to justify, prove or otherwise document any such determination.
Contest Period
Contest includes the first 13 weeks of regular (American) college (NCAA) football season. Contest starts (Week 1) Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 12:00 PM (Noon) ET and ends (Week 13) Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 11:00 AM ET (the currently scheduled end date of the regular (American) college (NCAA) football schedule for week 13; such period, the "Contest Period")
Deadlines
To be eligible for overall (full season) prizes, participants must register prior to 11:00 AM ET on the scheduled first Saturday of the regular (American) college (NCAA) football season (currently scheduled for Saturday, August 30, 2008; if such date is not the actual first Saturday of the regular (American) college (NCAA) football season for any reason, such 11:00 AM ET deadline on August 30, 2008 shall still apply (the "Entry Deadline")) and timely submit picks each week by 11:00 a.m. ET each Saturday of the regular (American) college (NCAA) football season (see entry details below). If a participant does not timely submit picks for any particular week, he/she will no longer be eligible for overall (full season) prizes but will still be eligible for applicable weekly prizes for any week(s) that he/she properly submits picks. Similarly, if a participant registers for this contest after the Entry Deadline, he/she will not be eligible for overall (full season) prizes but will still be eligible for applicable weekly prizes for any week(s) that he/she properly submits picks.
For purposes of this contest, the weekly deadline for each participant to submit his/her weekly picks and prediction is 11:00 a.m. ET each Saturday during the regular (American) college (NCAA) football season (regardless of whether such first game is one of the participant's five picks for any such week). Participants are responsible for monitoring the (American) college (NCAA) football schedule each week so that they are aware of the first game to be played in any particular week and the time at which it is scheduled to be played (based on Eastern Time).
Participants may change their selections an unlimited number of times before the applicable deadline (with each participant being entitled to only one set of selections each week).
Entries that are not made on-line at VegasInsider.com's website shall not be valid. Consequently, postal mail, e-mail, fax and similar entries shall be null and void.
The contest does not include games played on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
Prizes
Notification to Winners and Claiming Prizes
At the end of the regular season, VegasInsider.com, Inc. will notify the winners for each week and for the full season prizes (by e-mail, telephone and/or postal mail, in the sole discretion of VegasInsider.com, Inc.). If any such declared winner does not claim his/her prize within the specified period of time and otherwise in compliance with these Official Rules and Legal Disclaimers, or otherwise satisfy the eligibility requirements for this contest in the opinion of the contest judges, the next qualifying participant will be so notified until an eligible winner has properly claimed his/her prize. This will not apply to winners of the full season prizes who correctly pick 72% of their games. In those cases, any prize winner who does not satisfy eligibility requirements or claim his/her prize will be disqualified and the prize will be split on a pro rata basis by all remaining eligible prize winners (if any).
The identity of all confirmed prize winners will be posted on the VegasInsider.com web site in a timely fashion following completion of this contest. Any disqualified participant shall be expressly barred from publicizing or otherwise publicly claiming or promoting that he/she won or should have won this contest. Any violation of this rule may subject any such violator(s) to potential criminal (fraud) and civil liability.
Prizes are as follows:
Full-Season Prizes (up to $5,000 cash and $5,000 in VI credits solely for redemption on the VegasInsider.com website for certain products and/or services offered thereon ("VI Credits") at the sole discretion of VegasInsider.com, Inc.)
Cash prizes and VI Credits will be awarded to the top scorers over the course of the full 2008 regular (American) college (NCAA) football season, as follows:
- All participants who pick 72% of their games correctly (equal to 47 or more - of 65 - correct game selections over the course of the season) will equally and ratably share in a $5,000 cash prize pool and a $5,000 VI Credits pool.
- NOTE: If no participant picks at least 72% of their games correctly over the course of the season, then the participant with the highest percentage of correct picks will be eligible to win $1,000 cash and $1,000 in VI Credits. In the event of a tie, in such an instance, the winner will be determined by comparing each tied participant's percentage of correct picks for the last week of the regular (American) college (NCAA) football season and, if the tie is not then resolved, going back one week at a time until there is one overall winner.
Weekly Prize
- $100 US Dollars and $100 in VI Credits
(for a total of 13 weeks for a grand total of cash awarded over the Contest Period of $1,300.00 and a grand total of VI Credits awarded over the Contest Period of $1,300 in VI Credits).
For each week of the regular (American) college (NCAA) football season, the participant with the highest number of correct picks for that week will win a weekly prize of $100 in cash and $100 in VI Credits. Ties will be resolved in accordance with the above stated rules. There is no limit to the number of weekly prizes that each participant or household is eligible to receive.
The odds of winning any prizes are based on the number of participants in this contest.
Total maximum prize value: $6,300.00 (US Dollars) and $6,300.00 in VI Credits.
Legal Disclaimers
Eligibility
VegasInsider.com, Inc.'s "College Football Handicapping Challenge" is open to legal residents of the 50 United States, Washington, D.C. and Canada (excluding Puerto Rico and all U.S. territories/possessions and Quebec) who are the age of majority in their state or province of legal residence and who have provided a valid internet e-mail address upon registering for this contest. Void outside the U.S. and Canada, in Puerto Rico, all U.S. territories/possessions, Quebec and otherwise and/or elsewhere prohibited. Excluded residents who are the age of majority may play, but WILL NOT be eligible to receive any prizes. Minors are expressly prohibited from playing in this contest and/or winning any prizes in this contest. RESIDENTS OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA ARE PERMITTED TO PLAY IN THIS CONTEST BUT ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR ANY PRIZES.
Employees and members of the immediate families of employees of VegasInsider.com, Inc. (immediate family is defined as parent, sibling, spouse, child or any person residing in the same household as employee), its parent corporation, affiliated corporations, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, other agencies and/or consultants are not eligible to play. Recipients of complimentary VegasInsider.com, Inc. accounts to access products (as opposed to contest IDs) may participate in the contest but will not be eligible for prizes. The foregoing restrictions shall not apply to the following VegasInsider.com staff handicappers and consulting/contributing handicappers: (a) all current staff and contributing VegasInsider.com handicappers and (b) to the extent not specifically mentioned in subparagraph (a), any other and/or future staff and/or consulting/contributing handicappers of VegasInsider.com. RESIDENTS OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA ARE PERMITTED TO PLAY IN THIS CONTEST BUT ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR ANY PRIZES.
General Conditions
By entering, each entrant accepts and agrees to be bound by these rules and by the decision of the judges, which shall be final and binding in all respects. Taxes on prizes, if any, are the sole responsibility of the prize winners. No substitution or transfer of prizes is permitted except by VegasInsider.com, Inc. as follows: VegasInsider.com, Inc. reserves the right to substitute a prize for one of equal or greater value in the event that an advertised prize is unavailable.
All prize winners shall be required to submit valid identification to VegasInsider.com, Inc. and to execute and return an affidavit of eligibility and a liability/publicity release (where permitted) within ten (10) days following first attempted notification (by any means). Failure to comply within this time period may result in disqualification and awarding of the prize to an alternate winner based on the prize award mechanics set forth herein.
By participating, contestants agree to VegasInsider.com, Inc.'s use of their names and likeness for advertising and publicity purposes worldwide, without limitation or compensation, unless prohibited by law.
All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.
VegasInsider.com may share any and all personal user information of contestants with third parties, specifically including such third parties that assist VegasInsider.com in marketing and promoting this contest, sponsors of VegasInsider.com and/or of this contest and/or third parties who provide services to VegasInsider.com. Any and all such data sharing shall be in the sole and absolute discretion of VegasInsider.com.
VegasInsider.com, Inc. is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete or misdirected on-line entries or transactions, for incorrect, inaccurate or incomplete entry information whether caused by a contestant, equipment, or technical malfunction or for any human error, technical error or malfunctions. VegasInsider.com, Inc. reserves the right to halt or modify the contest at any time during the contest period if events beyond its control compromise the contest's fairness or integrity. In the event that a scheduled game is canceled or preempted for any reason, no points will be awarded for that week in respect of any such game. In the event of any strike(s), Act(s) of God, war or any other factors that might prevent regular season play, no points will be awarded for any such period(s) that are so affected; in any such event, VegasInsider.com, in its sole and absolute discretion, may declare this contest to be null and void, in which case no further prizes shall be awarded.
VegasInsider.com, Inc. is not responsible for typographical or other human or technical errors in the offer or administration of this contest, including but not limited to errors in advertising, the Official Rules, the selection and announcement of any winner or the distribution of any prizes.
VegasInsider.com, Inc., in its sole discretion, may disqualify any entrant from participating in the contest, refuse to award points or prizes, and require the return of any prizes, if entrant engages in any conduct that VegasInsider.com, Inc. deems to be improper, unfair or otherwise adverse to the operation of the contest or detrimental to other entrants. Such improper conduct includes, but is not limited to, falsifying personal information required during contest registration or prize claim, violating any term or condition stated herein or in the Official Rules, accumulating points or prizes through methods such as automated computer scripts or other programming techniques, allowing others to use the entrant's personal information for the purpose of accumulating points or prizes, tampering with the administration of this promotion, or intentionally trying to defraud, reverse engineer, disassemble, decompile or otherwise tamper with the computer programs relating to this contest or on the VegasInsider.com web site. Entrant further acknowledges that the forfeiture of prize(s) and/or return of any prize(s) shall in no way prevent VegasInsider.com, Inc. from pursuing other avenues of recourse such as criminal or civil proceedings in connection with such conduct.
VegasInsider.com, Inc. reserves the right to modify these rules for clarification purposes without materially affecting the terms and conditions of the contest. This contest is not affiliated with or endorsed by any NCAA sports league, association or team. This is a contest designed to increase consumer awareness of and interest in the VegasInsider.com web site and its products and services.
This contest may not be used for any form of gambling.
Rules/Winners List
For the contest's winner list or an additional copy of the Official Rules, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope by January 31, 2009 VegasInsider.com, Inc. "College Football Handicapping Challenge," 5300 N.W. 33rd Avenue, Suite 207, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309. Specify "Rules" or "Winners List." Residents of VT may omit return postage from Rules requests. Residents of Canada may omit return postage from both requests.
Internet
If for any reason the Internet portion of the contest program is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of VegasInsider.com, Inc. which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this contest, VegasInsider.com, Inc. reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the contest. In such event, VegasInsider.com, Inc. further reserves the right to award prizes to alternate players based on the prize mechanics set forth herein.
VegasInsider.com, Inc. assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, or theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries or transactions. VegasInsider.com, Inc. is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail entry or transaction to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this contest.
CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY A CONTESTANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, VEGASINSIDER.COM, INC. RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH CONTESTANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW AND TO OTHERWISE SEEK REMEDIES (CIVIL AND/OR CRIMINAL) AS A RESULT OF SUCH CONDUCT.
In the event of a dispute, entries made by Internet will be declared made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at time of entry. "Authorized account holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.
Any entry that is incomplete, late, or does not include a validly issued User ID will be disqualified.
In the event that the contest is challenged by any legal or regulatory authority, VegasInsider.com, Inc. reserves the right to discontinue or modify the contest, or to disqualify participants residing in the affected geographic areas. In such event, VegasInsider.com, Inc. shall have no liability to any players who are disqualified due to such an action.
