Daily Fantasy Baseball Fanduel Picks: 6/19/17
This article will help break down Fanduel’s Monday main slate and analyze a few players in depth.
At the end of the article, I will present a Fanduel optimal lineup courtesy of RotoQL, to demonstrate the value and data that can be obtained by using their suite of tools.
So, lets get started:
Pitcher: Jon Lester ($9,900)
Chicago’s Jon Lester takes the mound tonight as a heavy favorite against the San Diego Padres. Lester has been solid at home, posting a 2.65 ERA and 1.02 WHIP. In addition, he has held opponents to a .290 wOBA and hard contact rate of 26.3%. The Padres’ bats alone are not enough to cause alarm, putting up a .280 wOBA and .131 ISO versus lefties as a team. Lester should also be able to rack up some strikeouts tonight. He is punching out batters at a 24.5% clip, while the Padres are striking out at a 24.8% clip against lefties. Lester has a high likelihood of success against a Padres’ team that struggles to score runs, averaging only 3.66 runs per game this season.
Other Options: Clayton Kershaw, Brad Peacock
High-Tier Hitter: Josh Donaldson ($3,900)
Josh Donaldson should look to explode tonight against Rangers’ Austin Bibens-Dirkx. Although Bibens-Dirkx has pitched well in limited action so far this season, the potent Blue Jays offense may prove to be too much for him. Donaldson hits righties well, sporting a .420 wOBA and elite .300 ISO against the handedness. Donaldson has also his 7 of his 8 home runs on the season against right-handed pitchers. Throw in the Blue Jays’ slate high run total of 5.8 runs and you have a nice recipe for success.
Other options: Nelson Cruz, Jose Altuve
Mid-Tier Hitter: Mitch Haniger ($3,500)
Mitch Haniger has been a nice surprise this season. Tonight, Haniger gets an excellent matchup with Detroit’s Anibal Sanchez. Sanchez has struggled against hitters on both sides of the plate. However, he has given up a .440 wOBA and 6 home runs to righties. Meanwhile, Haniger has been deadly at home this year, sporting a .368 batting average, and averaging nearly 14.7 Fanduel points per game.
Other Options: Mike Moustakas, Jose Bautista
Low- Tier Hitter: Josh Bell ($2,900)
Josh Bell and the Pittsburgh Pirates get a park upgrade when they travel to Milwaukee on Monday. Miller Park has been particularly kind to left-handed hitters, making power hitter Josh Bell a prime target. Bell has a .350 wOBA and .226 ISO against right-handed pitchers. His matchup with Matt Garza is solid, as Garza gives up a .340 wOBA to lefties, and has given up 6 home runs at home. In 7 at bats against Garza, Bell has 4 hits. The Pirates’ first baseman makes for a great upside play at a sub $3000 price.
Other options: Troy Tulowitzki, Mallex Smith
