DFS Best Bets - Week 10
November 7, 2017
By Austin Chen
It appears that too many NFL players watched UFC 217 Saturday night. I can’t remember any week where we saw so many fights go down on Sunday. The DFS Best Bets for Week 9 was knocked out too when the news of a ACL tear for DeShaun Watson mid week. I am wishing DeShaun Watson a speedy recovery as he is a class act. The worst of the bye weeks are finally over as only 4 teams are on bye this week versus 6 teams the last 2 weeks.
Before I break down the players to play in Week 10, everyone should go check out the RotoQL NFL Lineup Optimizer as it is a must when building your daily fantasy football teams.
Matthew Stafford (DraftKings: $6,800, FanDuel: $8,200)
Matthew Stafford has been rolling the past few weeks with 3 games in a row over 20 DraftKings fantasy points. The best part is that Stafford has only thrown 5 touchdowns in that span which is like one Carson Wentz game. Cleveland is a funnel defense which should set up Stafford’s 4th consecutive game with over 300 yards passing. Add in a 3 touchdown day and you maybe looking at the top quarterback for week 10.
Case Keenum (DK: $4,800, FD: $6,800)
For at least another week, Case Keenum will be in charge of the Minnesota Vikings offense. He is a DraftKings GPP play since he is priced as the 21st best quarterback for the week. At only $4,800 it will not be hard for Keenum to pay off his cheap price tag and it allows you to spend elsewhere. I really like stacking Adam Thielen with Case Keenum in week 10.
Other QBs To Consider: Marcus Mariota, Jared Goff, Josh McCown
Alvin Kamara (DK: $6,900, FD: $7,000)
Alvin Kamara’s usage has gone up while Mark Ingram’s carries have dropped for the 4th week in a row. The New Orleans Saints are a run 1st team this season as Drew Brees is averaging 5 less passes a game than last season. Kamara has a rushing touchdown in back to back weeks so you can make the case that Mark Ingram should be priced $6,900 and Alvin Kamara at $7,400. The duo are only a $100 difference on Fanduel as Alvin Kamara is actually the more expensive player. In their first game without Marcell Dareus, the Buffalo Bills were embarrassed by the New York Jets duo of Matt Forte and Bilal Powell. The Bills gave up 151 yards rushing on only 23 carries. With 30 pt upside and a floor of 12.2 DK pts since week 2, Alvin Kamara is my favorite running back this week.
Matt Forte (DK: $4,400, FD: $5,600)
I love Matt Forte in GPPs especially on DraftKings thanks to the low price tag of $4,400. Forte backed up his comments the week before about the New York Jets needing to run the football more. He turned in his best effort of the season with 2 touchdowns on 14 carries. Similar to Alvin Kamara, I expect to see a role more like last week compared to 2 weeks before where Forte only had 4 carries. Thanks to his role in the passing game, Forte lowest output is 11.2 DK points in the last 4 weeks. Get Matt Forte in your line ups versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who appear to have quit on the season. I have already been picking on the Tampa Bay defense the last few weeks and now is not the time to stop. A solid floor and GPP upside is all you can ask for in a $4,400 player.
Other RBs To Consider: Jordan Howard, Carlos Hyde, Leonard Fournette
Adam Thielen (DK: $6,700, FD: $7,000)
Adam Thielen looks like he will avoid Josh Norman this week. Instead, he will face off against Bashaud Breeland who has a Pro Football focus player grade of 46.4 which is 88th among all cornerbacks. Thielen has been one of the most consistent wide receivers this season. He has at least 5 catches in every game and 4 games over 96 yards. The only knock has been touchdowns which he has only one. DraftSharks NFL has Thielen projected in the top 10 for wide receivers this week.
Corey Davis (DK: $4,000, FD: $5,800)
Everyone in fantasy football community seems to be a big fan of Corey Davis and his upside. With a week under his belt after his hamstring injury, I expect bigger things for Davis this week. Corey Davis has a great matchup according to Pro Football Focus as he will see Dre Kirkpatrick who has a 40.2 grade and ranked 110th at his position. With the cheap price tag this week, it is well worth a GPP play as the opportunities will be there. Nobody was able to become the #1 passing for the Titans while Davis was out.
Other WRs To Consider: Robby Anderson, Aldrick Robinson, Marvin Jones
Tyler Kroft (DK: $3,600, FD: $5,400)
I thinking paying down is the way to go this week for tight ends. Evan Engram is a great play but $6,200. I would rather take the couple thousand dollars and spend it elsewhere. Tyler Kroft is a player that strikes my eye this week. Tyler Kroft and AJ Green have been the only fantasy worthy pass catching options on the Bengals. Kroft has caught at least 4 passes in 4 of his last 5 games and averages 9 fantasy points a game this season. A added bonus this week is that Andy Dalton is playing better on the road than at home this year. 8 of his 11 touchdowns have been on the road while 6 of his 8 interceptions have been thrown at home.
Garrett Celek (DK: $2,500, FD: $4,500)
After injuries to 2 other tight ends on the roster, Garrett Celek is now the defacto starting tight end for San Francisco. He is minimum salary on Fanduel and DraftKings this week. The New York Giants have given up a touchdown every week this season to a tight end. Sometimes it really is that easy.
Other TEs To Consider: Kyle Rudolph, Evan Engram, Delanie Walker
Minnesota Vikings (DK: $3,100, FD: $4,800)
Ever since the offensive line injuries have piled on, the Washington Redskins are a team to target for fantasy. This week the Minnesota Vikings defense are up to bat. Kirk Cousins has taken 10 sacks and lost 2 fumbles in the last 2 weeks. Both the Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks defenses put up double digit fantasy points versus the Washington Redskins. The Minnesota Vikings have yet to give up over 16 pts or 161 passing yards since week 3. The Vikings defense is an elite play with a solid discount on DraftKings.
New York Jets (DK: $2,800, FD: $4,600)
If we are looking to save a little more money on a defense, The New York Jets are worth a look after a impressive showing in week 8. The Jets were able to sack Tyrod Taylor 7 times and created pressure all game. Now they play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who will be without Jameis Winston and Mike Evans. The Jets are favored in the game and Tampa Bay only has an implied total of 19.5 points. The New York Jets defense have only allowed 2 teams to pass for more than 257 passing yards this season.
Other Defenses To Consider: L.A. Rams, Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys
