Allen takes lead with 67 in rainy Georgia

DULUTH, Ga. (AP) - Michael Allen opened his bid for back-to-back wins on the Champions Tour by taking the lead with a 5-under 67 Saturday in the rain-delayed first round of the Greater Gwinnett Championship.

Allen, who won last month's Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic, had birdies on two of his last three holes. The second round will be played later Saturday.

The 54-year-old Allen won the 2009 Senior PGA Championship and two events in 2012 before edging Bernhard Langer to win last month's event in Saucier, Miss.

Bart Bryant, Mark O'Meara, Mark Calcavecchia and Esteban Toledo are tied at 68.

Tom Watson is part of a group at 69 that includes Duffy Waldorf, Neal Lancaster, Brad Faxon and Fred Funk.

David Frost, who had a share of the lead at 4 under through 13 holes when play was suspended due to darkness on Friday, tumbled down the leaderboard in Saturday's early play. Frost took a quadruple bogey on No. 5 Saturday on his way to a 73.

Tour points leader Langer's streak of 21 straight rounds of par or better ended with his 73. The streak began at the end of last season and included his first five tournaments this year.

Olin Brown, who was 5 over through 15 holes on Friday, withdrew with a back injury. Gene Jones was disqualified after opening with a 73 but failing to make his tee time for the second round.
