No names do not win the U.S. Open. Or the Masters for a matter of fact. Yet, many golf handicappers will play the field odds bet and or chase large sums of odds looking for a grand payday.
I bet matchups almost exclusively and successfully for over 14 years, starting when regular PGA tournaments were available. The Masters and U.S. Open are the two best spots to capitalize on the many number of matchups and props.
This is the fourth U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills. Realistically, you cannot use the 1995 results as an indicator or tool for handicapping this week. Titanium driver were not invented, let alone multi-covered balls.
The weather could play a major roll in the outcome this week. The forecast has the first two days calling for rain and Sunday a potential disaster. Making this track longer will not be an advantage to most the of the field, but the softer greens will yield lower scores. The rough will become thicker and tougher to play from, so driving accuracy and GIR are still the handicappers main stats this week.
David Duval and defending U.S Open Champion Jim Furyk, surprisingly will play this week. As of this writing, I have not seen any matchups or props involving either player. Would like to bet against either in a matchup and/or that either will not make the cut.
So far, I have bet seven matchups and one prop. There are multiple prop bets, especially via Internet sportsbooks.
Alf Musketa is drilling 67 percent (40-29) of his golf matchups on the season. Dime players are up a heavy $11,500 with the link plays. Currently, Musketa has matchups and proposition plays posted on the 2004 U.S. Open. Get all of his plays in his pick pack by clicking here.

Sergio Garcia -140 vs. Fredrik Jacobson
Yes. Freddy Jak played well last week. But, we know better, under pressure that swing and erratic driver will not hold up at the U.S. Open. Sergio ranks 2nd in Greens in Regulation (GIR). Freddy ranks 83rd.
Recommendation: Play Sergio Garcia -140 vs. Fredrik Jacobson
