British Open Odds – 3rd Round

The 147th Open Championship from Carnoustie, Scotland began with 156 players and after two days of action, the field has been dwindled down to 79 heading into the weekend.

A lot of the field played the second round in rain all morning, which was much different from the firm conditions on Thursday.

The cut was set at 3-over and notable betting choices that were sent home after two rounds included favorite Dustin Johnson and fellow American Justin Thomas.

Also, popular Spanish golfers Jon Rahm and Sergio Garcia were also sent packing on Friday. Rahm was listed as a 10/1 co-favorite to win this event after shooting 2-under on Thursday but he played horrible in the second round with a score of 7-over 79.

Kevin Kisner was the overall leader at 5-under after the first round and he posted a 1-under 70 on Friday.

Kisner is tied at 6-under with Zach Johnson, who captured the 2015 British Open from St. Andrews.

Oddsmakers at [...] have Johnson as a 6/1 choice to capture his second Open title while Kisner is 12/1.

Prior to the event, Johnson (66/1) and Kisner (250/1) were considered long shot wagers.

The new betting favorite headed into Saturday's third round is Tommy Fleetwood at 5/1 odds. The English golfer who received plenty of attention from bettors this week rose up to the occassion on Friday with a 6-over 65, the top score of the round.

Fleetwood was listed as high as 20/1 prior to the tournament and that number jumped to 35/1 after his 1-over score in the first round. He sits at 5-under and is one shot behind the leaders.

Other big names in the mix are Rory McIlroy (15/2), Rickie Fowler (8/1) and last year's Open winner, Jordan Spieth (17/2).

McIlroy is the last International golfer to win the Open Championship, which has been followed by three straight wins by American ball strikers.[...] is offering Live Betting throughout the rest of the tournament.
