British Open Odds – 2nd Round

The first round of the Open Championship has concluded and some ball strikers had great performances at Royal Portrush Golf Club from Northern Ireland while others had terrible outings.

J.B. Holmes is the leader after the first 18 holes. The American birdied the last hole on Thursday at Royal Portrush for a final score of 5-under 66.

Right behind Holmes is Shane Lowry, who finished with a 4-under 67.

After the top two golfers, there are 13 players that sit at 3-under.

Notable golfers in that group include Spanish products Sergio Garcia and Jon Rahm.

Also, Brooks Koepka finished at 3-under 68. Koepka was listed as high as an 11/1 betting choice to win the 2019 Open Championship per the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook.

After Thursday's round, the SuperBook has installed Koepka as the top betting choice with 7/2 odds (Bet $100 to win $350).

Rahm is the second betting choice at 6/1 odds after the first round while Garcia is 30/1.

Lowry (16/1) is expected to be in the mix and so is Tommy Fleetwood (10/1) and Justin Rose at 14/1. 

Prior to the event, Rory McIlroy was listed as the betting favorite to win this year's tournament. Unfortunately for the hometown hero out of Northern Ireland, McIlroy shot an 8-over 79 on Thursday and all but eliminated himself from the title.

Tiger Woods, another popular betting choice, wasn't much better than McIlroy on Thursday as he finished 7-over 78 in the first round.

Bettors believing in miracles can take a shot on Rory at 250/1 to rally for the title or Woods at 500/1 odds.
