Welcome to another season of golf betting. Golf is still the most underrated betting sports on the board.
The linesmakers and bookmakers do not take the time and analyze each player on the PGA Tour. Nor do they know the golf courses as well as we do and for the most part they will just cruise along and post odds and matchups for the general public.
Each week I promise to bring you the very best in golf handicapping info. I will attend several events on the PGA Tour this season and track all the players on Tour. I am registered with the mainstream PGA Tour Media and will have the latest and up to date information. I also keep in contact with many of the Tour caddies and player agents.
As you know, I specialize in head-to-head golf matchup wagering. Here at Vegasinsider.com, I have a documented 10 straight winning seasons.
The 2007 golf season will have a different look with the addition of a points race called the FedEx Cup, which gives out a $10 million dollar first prize to the winner. But, don't expect some of the biggest names to chase the points. Major events still will dictate the schedules of the best players in the world.
Tiger Woods will skip the opening event. He is on a six-tournament winning streak and will more than likely tee it up at the Buick Invitational from Torrey Pines -- a course that he dominates and is the defending champion. I will be there handicapping. Tiger's wife is pregnant and possible due date is mid June. I can't see Tiger leaving the U.S. Open at Oakmont once he has the lead!
Phil Mickelson is rumored to be in Mexico and working himself into the best shape of his career in quite a while.
Here are a few players I think will make an impact on the 2007 season:
Paul Casey
Justin Rose
Troy Matteson
Camillo Villegas
Andrew Buckle
This week the annual four-round Mercedes Championship is a field made up of winners only from 2006 on the PGA Tour. The Kapalua Resort Course in Hawaii is very long and usually the trade winds make for an exhausting week. There is no cut.
Stuart Appleby -110 vs. Trevor Immelman
Appleby shooting for his 4th straight win in this event! He’s been in town for over two weeks practicing. Immelman's first look at this track will be interesting. Appleby is much longer off the tee.
