I look forward to another year of golf handicapping and betting golf matchups. We know that golf betting is still one of the best sports to bet for us, yet one of the weakest sports for the linesmakers to make and the sportsbooks to post.

They do not get much action and most of it could be considered wiseguy play. That is why you will find a high vigorish in future bets and matchups.

If there is a golf matchup out there any where, I will find it and evaluate the players. One of the hidden truths to betting matchups is that over the course of four days and 72 holes the cream rises to the top. Also, unlike other sports you can bet multiple matchups on or against the same player.

I have updated my database and have stats on all the PGA players and courses used over the past 17 years. I've talked with a few caddies from the Tour and gotten the scoop on the latest equipment changes, caddy changes, injury information and player's schedules.

Yes, unfortunately we will have to wait until the end of the month when Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson make their 2008 debut at the Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines. I will be there and as well at the WGC Match Play Championships in February.

As I have always said here on Vegasinsider.com -- “You get what I bet.”

This season we'll look closer at some European Tour matchups and different golf betting props as the season progresses.

The 2008 Golf season starts this week with a PGA Tour winner's only event, the Mercedes Benz Championship. The par 73 track plays 7,411 yards and favors the long hitter to tackle the five par 5's and battle the trade winds.

Jim Furyk is the current future odds favorite at +550. He has a house on the 18th hole. Without some of the big names participating, the field is wide open.

I see Furyk, Arron Baddeley, Henrik Stenson, Rory Sabatini and Brandt Snedeker making a legitimate move to win this week.
