Virginia -6.5 over Pittsburgh
I like Virginia for many reasons. They are in first place in the ACC and their focus is still to win the division. Having said that, they do not play another ACC opponent for 3 weeks. They can bolster their Bowl position by beating a banged up Pitt team this week and a weak Middle Tennessee State team next week.
QB Bostick will be behind center for Pitt this week and he really has struggled to date. Pitt has looked less than average and was exposed LW against Connecticut.
Lay the Points.
I have at least 5 more NCAA Football plays up in my pick pack.
The Presidents Cup
Even though this match is just north of the border, do not forget that the U.S. Team will be in hostile territory. This is the biggest golf event ever held in Canada.
The U.S. Team has not won a Ryder Cup or Presidents Cup on foreign soil since 1993, which was at The Belfry, in England.
The U.S. Team is top heavy with Tiger and Mickelson and Furyk, but the International Team is solid through out and has much more International competition and team competition. The U.S. Team has three players, Woody Austin, Lucas Glover and Hunter Mahan who have never played in these major team competitions. There is no greater pressure than team competition, more so than playing in a major event on Tour.
The International Team could get a huge boost if Canadian Mike Weir can win a few matches, the Canadian fans will embrace the team and Weir like no other.
Royal Montreal has been lengthened 300 yards to 7,100 total, but that will not benefit either team, both have plenty of length. The greens have been rebuilt and severly sloped.
Sure, the U.S. team has Tiger and a good pairing of Tiger and Furyk, but the International team can pair the South Africans together, Aussies together and don't forget Cabrera, Vijay, KJ Choi and Mike Weir.
The line on this event has been pick'em for months, but because Tiger, Mickelson and Stricker have dominated the Fed Ex Cup the line has climbed on the U.S. Team.
