After the Kentucky Derby, I put a few bucks on Big Brown to win the Triple Crown, no big deal. However, when you have the best horse by a mile in the race and you don't win because of, first and foremost poor training leading up to the race, but a bad ride on top of that, you can't blame the horse!
Desormeaux cannot and has never rated a horse properly in my opinion. He blew the Triple Crown on another bad ride on Real Quiet, and if he had rated Big Brown to start the race and used their No.#1 pole position to their advantage, they should have had the perfect trip....TO AT LEAST HAVE A SHOT AT WINNING.
Why not ride along the rail which was solid in the races preceeding? Why move the horse to the outside on the first turn?
I hope Big Brown is ok and that there is not a physical problem. Sure, he could have bled internally, but he looked good to me after the race.
I'LL TELL YOU WHY I THINK HE LOST THE RACE.....Desormeaux and Dutrow did not have a good game plan to win this race tactfully. After the horrendous start and not being able to rank and rate Big Brown, he is forced to move outside and THEN on the backstretch was pushed outside to what looked like he was 6-7 wide off the rail AND chasing the leader and not rating your horse to make his proper move. In the Belmont, you are not going to have two moves, you get one move and Big Brown needed to be rated properly and make his move on the back end of the far turn or the top of the stretch.
After the race Desormeaux on camera says, " On the far turn I had no horse."
NO KIDDING AFTER YOU BLEW HIS CHANCES AT WINNING THE FIRST TRIPLE CROWN IN 30 YEARS BY NOT KNOWING HOW TO RATE A HORSE ONCE AGAIN AND MOVING TOO SOON....THATS WHY YOU HAD NO HORSE!
