This just in, at Churchill Downs.......Friesan Fire crosses the wire. Yes, my Derby horse, my mudder, is still running. This horse has many excuses from clipping heels, to having the wrong shoes, he bled, bumped, squeezed and of course a bad ride. But, I saw this horse gasp for air and that tells me that the trainer Larry Jones doesn't know what he is doing getting this horse to the big races. That's my excuse.
The Preakness now looks to be a very interesting race with Mine that Bird trying to repeat his Kentucky Derby win, which I think will never happen. He was zapped, tazed, or on Super Lasik or something because you will never see a horse go from dead last to 1st like that again. A dead-beat trainer to boot now tries to find ways to keep his horse fresh, heck he didn't even know he could run a workout at Pimlico on Thursday to sharpen his horse.
So, our Preakness selection is......MUSKETA MAN!......... OK, I mean Musket Man. Another 10 yards in the Kentucky Derby and he would have placed. He is a consistent runner, he'll like Pimlico and a hard surface as well and not so many horses to bump here. Musket Man across the board. Not messing with the exotics this race.
