We start today's blog off with belated congratulations. One goes to Tiger Woods, another to Jeff Gordon, and a third to LaBron James; and all for the same reason; the birth of their children. Now that these children have all been introduced to the world by the media, I think there should be a "athletic baby summit" held right around the World Bank meetings. After all, these babies will have trust funds larger than some third world countries GDP's.
Another congratulations goes to Angel Cabrera who fended off the world's number one and two golfer's enroute to a U.S. Open title. Cabrera lighting up a cigarette on the fairway is an image that will be forever embedded in my memory.
And now to this week's observations. Roger Clemens is now 1-2 in three starts in his new pinstripes. Wasn't it just a month ago that ESPN analysts were calling him the savior to the Yankess season?
And as if the Yankees didn't have enough problems, Jason Giambi has agreed to become the first active player to cooperate with major league's baseball steriod investigation. Someone please tell me, what good can come of this and how will Giambi's information benefit the game as a whole?
The Los Angeles Dodgers are in third place in the NL West and are 10 games over .500. Now you tell me which division is the best in baseball?
How did the University of Iowa manage to keep both Michigan and Ohio State off its schedule in the same year?
Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett are both officially on the trading block. What's amusing to me is that these two wouldn't even be content with switching spots. That makes two of the NBA's teams already The grass is always greener on the other side, right?
Joe Girardi declined a return to baseball after being offered the managing job for the Baltimore Orioles. Either Girardi isn't interested in managing again, he thinks he may be offered another job soon, or the Orioles organization is "that" bad. Anyone want to take odds on the reason?
