What a weekend for sports. Send the wife away with the girls, lock the doors, and get your rear end to a couch with a big TV in front of it. (Don't forget to unlock the door for the pizza guy).
We start with Saturday and college football. If Tennessee/Florida on CBS isn't enough intensity for you, Notre Dame and Michigan are banging heads over on ABC at 3:30. You may even get the regional Ohio State/Washington telecast as Ty Willingham tries to bring the Huskies back to the spotlight. You have plenty of nighttime activity with USC heading to Nebraska and Georgia Tech hosting Boston College. Perhaps the most interesting game features Louisville and Kentucky for in-state bragging rights. All five of these games deserve your attention.
And if its not football that gets your heart moving, flip on the Yankees and the Red Sox for an afternoon showdown from Fenway. Just 4 1/2 games out now, New York tries to close the gap and threaten for the division title.
Sunday is week two of the NFL season and there are several matchups worthy of your sports eye. The Colts head to Tennessee to take on Vince Young at 1:00 followed by the Cowboys and the Dolphins at 4:00. The nightcap features the scandal plagued Patriots in their home opener against a team they knocked from the playoffs last season, San Diego.
While the NFL owns Sundays, this week is the last chance to catch Tiger Woods as he aims for his first FedEx Cup championship from Atlanta. The top 30 players in the world are contenders.
The Yankees wrap up their series with the Sox on ESPN Sunday night baseball.
