There's something about touching down on the tarmac in Las Vegas. Maybe it's that you can see the resorts and casinos right out your window. Maybe it's the feeling that you're going to have a crazy night or two. Or maybe its the possibility and the dream of coming home with millions stuffed in your pockets.
I'm out in Vegas for sweet sixteen weekend as I do every year. It's a guys trip which automatically means there's plenty of food, drink, and gambling. No women around to complain about how much time we spend watching the games (I've had to do enough groveling for my four days last week). Much like last year, I'm especially excited because my beloved Gators are in the hunt for an NCAA basketball title.
Whatever it is that brings you to Vegas, I can highly suggest staying at TheHotel. A new division of the Mandalay Bay, TheHotel is an all-suite hotel and is conveniently located right next to the sportsbook. The Bathhouse Spa on the 2nd floor rates an A+ in my book and a 50-minute massage can seemingly take the frustration out of your last loss at the tables.
The sportsbook at the Mandalay Bay is one of the best in town. There's plenty of seats (although it won't be even close to enough for the crowd this weekend) and even some food close by. Restrooms right around the corner and I almost feel like I'm at home in my living room..with larger TV's. And alot more people.
On my first night of action, I've laid into Clemson at home over Syracuse, hard. As I write, they're up by 17 and I'm feeling good. I also have the Toronto Rapters at home over the Clippers. They're up by 5 early in the 2nd half and it looks promising as Bosh already has 21 points and 14 boards. This may be a good week indeed. I'm a little dissapointed that they haven't posted golf matchups for the CA Championship at the Doral but I'll survive.
Check back here often as I'll try and update as frequently as I can about the happenings at the Mandalay complex and from around town. In the meantime, wish me luck....Toronto only up by 4 now at the end of the 3rd.
