Something boggled my mind today so I felt compelled to write about it. The Kansas City Chiefs sent Dante Hall, arguably the leagues best return man, to the St. Louis Rams in exchange for a fifth round draft pick. A fifth round pick! That's all he's worth to Kansas City? Chief's president Carl Peterson said "We feel that it's always important to have at least seven draft picks." Hey Carl, I'm pretty sure its more important to have a good team! The rumor on the street is that Larry Brown could be back on the bench for the Memphis Grizzlies. Yeh, he's going to love that gig.
UCLA basketball players Darren Collison and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute announced today they will be passing on the NBA draft to return to school. This is a very good decision for both players. Also going back to school is Tennessee star Chris Lofton. I believe Lofton is making a bad decision.
A sold out crowd of 92,000 plus watch Nick Saban in his coaching debut at Alabama's spring game. That's 92,000 people who are going to be extremely happy this season since Alabama has one of the easiest road schedules in recent SEC history. Road games are at Vanderbilt, Old Miss, Mississippi State, and Auburn. A neutral site game against FSU is at the end of Sept. So that means Tennessee, Georgia, and LSU all come to Tuscaloosa while the defending champion Florida Gators are not on this years schedule. 10-2 is do-able folks.
The BCS officials left their meetings this week with instructions to begin to think about the next generation of college football's postseason. One year from now, the BCS will need to structure a new deal with TV which means that the time is coming that we can hope to see a playoff in place. Please.
