You know that feeling you get when you roll out of bed, look in the mirror, and say to yourself "this is going to be a good day?" I did that this morning. And boy was it a good day. All Mint Juleps aside (and there were plenty), the Derby was everything it's cracked up to be, yet again. While it was far from a photo finish, it did end just the way I wanted it to. Even if I had to suffer through several Jerry O'Connell interviews and more face time for the Queen then she gets in her own country. Nick Lachey told us he's working on a new album (like anyone that watches horse racing might care).
I'm not much of a horse gambler. I never have been and probably never will be. But hey, this is the Derby and you just have to get into it, right. So after some consulting with close friends, we picked our trifecta's and went our seperate ways. I'm not sure who called who when it was over but we were all happy campers.
Yes, I nailed the trifecta. Yes, I'm happy. Yes, the payout stunk. But hey, off the Mint Juleps and on to the Margarita's. It's Cinco de Mayo!
