The Bonds Vote- Do you actually believe that Barry Bonds recieved the public's vote to start the All-Star game in San Francisco? I don't! In Las Vegas and around the rest of the country I might meet one in 10 who like and respect Barry Bonds. I just don't believe that the vote was honest, after all it's not like baseball is clean. Even though Commissioner Bud Selig has been silent on Bond's chase of the home run record it still is good for the fans in the bay area to have Bonds in the line-up. Willie Mays will be honored and he is Barry's Godfather and Barry's dad Bobby has since passed after struggling with alcohol and other problems. There is no greater compliment then to be selected to play in the All Star by your peers. With the vote in the hands of the fans it's just not right considering the fact the the game now effects the World Series. I mean here is a game that was so meaningless three years ago that they called the game in the 11th inning!
In 2006, Derek Jeter who lost the AL batting title on the final day of the season as Joe Mauer sat out three of the final five games was left off the All-star team. The player that was taken over Jeter, Shea Hillenbrand was just released by the Los Angeles Angels on Monday. One way to relieve the problem of deserving players being left off the squad is to expand the number of players to make the team.
Mike Hargrove- Wow, do you believe that he left the Mariners just becasue he lost his heart for the game? Heck, Casey Stengel slept through half his managing years. I do think and many other believe the same that there is something else to this story and we'll find out what it is at a later date. I only hope that his health is not the issue.
