I am a little disappointed that the National Championship game wasn't more competitive. It's hard to fault Ohio St, Florida hit 56% from the three point line and have 3 big men who wore down Oden. Nobody in the country can compete with that. I felt Ohio St would be able to match quickness, but the out side shots keep everything open for the Gators.
On to baseball season. There were plenty of big time pitching performances on opening day. Ben Sheets looks like he is 100% healthy, throwing a 2 hit shut out, while Felix Hernandez had 12 K's in the win over Oakland. The D-Train was back on track, in a win over Washington, and there was a nice duel yesterday in Philly as Smoltz and Myers both had nasty stuff working.
Some forgettable performances were by Contreras of Chicago, he let up 7 ER in 1 inning pitched, his ERA is currently 63.00. Curt Schilling looked a bit rusty against K.C. as did Santana in Minny, but they still got the win.
