I just posted a new article covering some of the basics for fantasy football drafting. I'll try to give you a recap of some of the happenings in my personal fantasy draft after the weekend. Check out the new article posted on Vegas Insider.
Speaking of football scores, how about the Texas Rangers putting up over four touchdowns last night. A wild game that had some great moments of humor:
-Interim Manager Dave Trembley had his contract extended through 2008 just before the start of the game. GM Andy McPhail said of Trembley and the O's "I wanted to see how he'd react if we went through a tough skid, and it really didn't happen. The team still played well." Does a 30-3 loss count as a 'tough skid' Andy?
-The 30-3 loss was game 1 of a double-header, so the Orioles had to trot back out for another game (which they also lost) after the lopsided outcome.
-Only two Rangers in the lineup failed to record an RBI, among them was All-Star and the only legitimate veteran threat in the lineup, Michael Young.
-Rangers reliever Wes Littleton actually recorded a save in the ballgame by pitching shutout ball in the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings. It is certainly a tough job to close down that 27 run lead in the ninth.
-Surprisingly the Orioles used just four pitchers, likely with the eminent second-game in mind. That was the type of game that you bring in Jose Canseco to pitch like the Rangers once did years ago.
I hope some of you had the 'over' in that game as that would be a fun ticket to cash. More preseason action this weekend, we like the Jaguars tonight over the Packers. Jacksonville has been a tough-luck loser in the opening two preseason games as the back-up defensive units have surrendered points after opponents were completely shut down by what should be a very good Jaguars defense. The Packers won big in the last preseason game versus the Seahawks but don't expect to see those kind of numbers tonight.
