After a long weekend with a couple of vacation days on Thursday and Friday, we've got quite a bit to catch up on. So let's do it...
--Thanks to a late-night tweet from former VI cohort and Tallahassee Democrat Sports Editor Jim Lamar, we noticed real early this morning that FSU linebacker Nigel Carr was arrested for two charges of burglary and one charge of possessing someone else's id, criminal mischief and credit card theft. Carr had 26 tackles in 2009.
--If you have an ESPN Insider subscription, Chad Millman's latest sports betting blog on ESPN.com has my explanation(s) for my three favorite college football season win totals. I'll have a by-line with these later tonight.
--Former Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli might be in play at Ole Miss. Not only that, but he might be under center when the Rebels open up against Jackson St. on Sept. 4. Masoli, a first-team All Pac-10 selection who led the Ducks to the Rose Bowl last season, was suspended for the 2010 campaign by Chip Kelly. However, since he has finished his undergrad work at Oregon, he could transfer and play immediately if enrolled in a grad program not offered in Eugene. Houston Nutt is reportedly looking into taking Masoli, although he certainly has to talk his bosses into it first. Remember, Masoli has a decorated resume both on and off the field.
--I sent this link about Dwayne Schintzius out on twitter last week (follow me at vegasbedwards if you wish). The former Florida center is fighting cancer and doing a lot better than he was when I discussed his career last February.
--Does The Hat ever disappoint? My Man, LSU head coach Les Miles, thrills us yet again with Les Logic in this recent discussion of the Gulf oil spill.
--If you missed it last week, here's the best story out there on LeBron's move from Cleveland to South Beach.
