Before getting to my Top 30 in college football, let's touch on a few quick-hit topics coming out of the weekend...
--Kudos to my Hawks for their 3-0 start but most of all for their signing of Al Horford to a five-year, $60 million contract extension. With a potential lockout pending, only three players from the 2008 NBA Draft (Kevin Durant, Joakim Noah and Horford) signed extensions before the Nov. 1 deadline.
--Don't be shocked by Indy TE Jacob Tamme playing well in place of Dallas Clark on MNF last night. Tamme, who was a stud in college at Kentucky, had six catches for 64 yards and one touchdown.
--Tamme's emergence is just another reminder of what a remarkable job Rich Brooks did at Kentucky. Two more of his former players made their presences felt in Week 8 of the NFL campaign. Buffalo WR Steve Johnson made his sixth TD reception of the season, while New England DT Myron Pryor delivered the hit that sent Brett Favre out of the game in the Pats' victory over the Vikings.
--Why I'm an IDIOT: Picked Ole Miss to beat Auburn outright last week, took Brock Lesnar in that ASSBEATING he took from Cain Velasquez, failed to pull the trigger on the Jags in that pimpslap they gave the Cowboys after liking Jacksonville all week, failed to back Tim Lincecum as a 'dog once in the World Series and most of all.....because I really thought Georgia had a chance against my GATORS last week.
--Why I'm BRILLIANT: Called N.C. St. to beat FSU outright on Thursday back in July (Many a FSU season has been ruined in road games on Thursday nights.), highly recommended Oregon St. as my top play for Week 9 on radio all last week and for telling all Michigan fans not to get caught up in its fraudulent 5-0 start because the Wolverines would fall apart down the stretch. When R-Rod is fired in a few weeks, that'll be another call I made back in June/July.
--JaMarcus Russell is working out for the Redskins today. Has Mike Shanahan lost his mind?
--If James Rodgers was healthy, I'd be calling for Oregon St. to upset Oregon in the Civil War right now. Ah, to hell with it -- I'm calling it anyway. Beavers take down the Ducks on Dec. 4. (Ducks stay unbeaten between now and then).
--Check out my man, K-Rog, who is on fire in the NFL! K-Rog has an incredible 31-11-1 record for the season, bringing home nearly 19 units of profit and cashing winners at a 74% clip! Sign up now for K-Rog's NFL season package.
--ESPN's Best on TV:
5-Neil Everett and Stan Verrett
--ESPN's Worst on TV:
5-Mark May and Dr. Lou
