Strikeforce has a solid card tonight on Showtime starting at 10:00 p.m. Eastern. A pair of belts will be on line and Herschel Walker will make his second career MMA appearance.
A lot of books are only taking bets on the title fights, but a few betting shops have Walker listed as an expensive minus-350 favorite (risk $350 to win $100). He will be facing Scott Carson, a 40-year old who has odds in the plus-270 range.
Walker won his first fight and returns to the cage at the age of 48.
I think Robbie Lawler is worth a shot at generous plus-190 odds (risk $100 to win $190) as he squares off against Ronaldo Souza for the Strikeforce middleweight championship.
Nick Diaz will try to defend his welterweight belt against Evangelista Santos. Bettors have to lay a 'chalky' price on Diaz, who is as expensive as minus-400 at a few spots. Most books have Diaz at around minus-360 with Santos available at about plus-280.
I think Walker and Diaz win, but I'm not about to lay those expensive prices. Now if you have a BoDog account (they take MMA parlays), perhaps a Diaz-Walker combination for a parlay is worth consideration.
I'll touch on the results of tonight's card in my Bonus Nuggets for a UFC 126 preview that'll get posted early this week. (Three GREAT fights next Saturday in Vegas!).
