--Disgraced former Ohio St. quarterback and perennial felon Art Schlichter is in trouble again (shocker!). This is actually old news but we bring it up because earlier today Schlichter's lawyer stated, "He can probably get a fairer trial in Ann Arbor, Mich., than he could in Franklin County."
--Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira has been added to the UFC 134 card in Rio. The Brazilian legend will face heavyweight contender Brendan Schaub, who is coming off a win over another former PRIDE champ (Mirko Cro Cop).
--If you're needing a college hoops fix, I recently posted this column on VI about Sportsbook.com's futures for the 2011-2012 campaign.
--Have I mentioned how THRILLED I am that Kobe Bryant is no longer in the playoffs? ABSOLUTELY STOKED!!!!
--Kevin Durant is only 22. 22?! Wait until this kid adds 10-15 pounds of muscle. Think about that.
--Too early to compare Portland taking Greg Oden ahead of Durant to the Trail Blazers selecting Sam Bowie instead of some dude named Michael Jordan? Yes, but let's revisit that in two years.
--Dirk Nowitzki's incredible stat line from last night's 121-112 Game 1 win over Oklahoma City: 48 points, six rebounds, four assists and four blocked shots on 12-of-15 shoting from the field and 24-of-24 at the free-throw line. 48 points on 15 shots is what I call efficiency. (Kobe needs 45 shots to get 48 pts.)
--UFC President Dana White made a slew of announcements at the UFC Summit last week at the Red Rock Hotel (love this place!) in Las Vegas. Among them was cash bonuses for certain twitter accomplishments like followers, etc. On that note, we point you to this link from BloodyElbow.com that covers a good bit of ground. For starters, there are several delicious eye-candy shots of Octagon Girl Arianny Celeste (never a bad thing). Most disturbing, however, is a picture of Lyoto 'The Dragon' Machida in the bathtub with his brother and one-year-old kid. Yes, the same brother who got caught on camera picking his nose for about 5-10 seconds following Machida's Karate-Kid KO of Randy Couture.
--Other UFC Summit developments included Tito Ortiz and Matt Mitrione nearly coming to blows, B.J. Penn and Jake Shields tweeting about a potential head-to-head matchup and of course, Shane Carwin replacing Brock Lesnar in the UFC 131 main event against Junior dos Santos.
