Ok, folks. I've recently moved from Atlanta to Sea Grove Beach between Panama City and Destin in the Florida panhandle. Therefore, I've been run out of my house by Tropical Storm Ida and I'm currently at a location having issues with my outgoing e-mail. Therefore, I can't respond to the dozens of e-mailers responding to my Week 10 Rewind, so I'll do so on this page here.
Allright, this is what I initially wrote: Clemson fans are a complete joke. What a disgrace for them to rush the field after beating a five-loss FSU team. Seriously? On the other hand, C.J. Spiller is a total stud whose going to score a lot of touchdowns and make a bunch of cash at the next level.
A number of Clemson fans have e-mailed me to inform me that it's a Clemson tradition for fans to rush the field (win or lose) and go to midfield to sing the alma mater.
After a few rather angry e-mails, my thinking was, "Still lame!" After all, Clemson had to rally after trailing for most of the game to beat FSU's worst team in three decades. The Tigers were 9 1/2-point home favorites and they are hoping to FINALLY get to the ACC Championship Game for the first time. And for three quarters, they appeared to be laying their typical egg (think the BC home game Matt Ryan's senior year) when seemingly on the cusp of a special season.
However, after a few cordial Clemson e-mailers who actually complimented me on my (previous) work, I've had a change of heart. I guess that is a cool tradition, allowing the fans to interact with the players and all that jazz.
With that said, if I were a Clemson fan, I'd be a little more miffed at how my team didn't come out ready to play. And I don't think I would've made it on the field this past Saturday night.
But I'm not a Clemson fan (and I'll refrain from making a sarcastic remark here). So to all Clemson fans: Rush the field and have a good time -- do your thing. And hey, if/when you beat Virginia at home in a few weeks to clinch your first trip to the ACC title game, then you will undoubtedly have my blessings to rush the field and raise hell.
Now let's all carry on with our Tuesday...
