It’s unbelievable that the 2009 NFL season is already among us; it feels as if it was just yesterday when the Arizona Cardinals "cover" in the Superbowl looked like a disaster against the Pittsburgh Steelers until the 4th quarter when they almost pulled off the victory; congrats to Pittsburgh, but thank you Arizona for covering! At the end of the day all that matters is not who wins or loses it’s who covered the game and put money in my pocket. Granted if it’s your favorite team fighting for a chance to hold the Vince Lombardi trophy at the end of the game – I get it; otherwise all that matters is who “covered” rather than who “won” the game. As an avid sports fan, I go through the annual motions of picking up on NBA basketball, the NCAA tournament and then remembering my passion for MLB - but it all leads to getting back to what truly matters, which is the National Football League.
We’re looking forward to another fantastic NFL season, looking at various angles, spreads, trends and expert analysis to make sure that you’re making the right picks. In today’s tough economic markets you can’t afford to make the wrong decisions too often. To start the season off right, I thought I would help you understand my philosophy and decision making theories that go into providing you the right angles to play. The way I look at sports gambling is like a long term investment that shows profits and losses over short terms.
First let’s be honest it’s known that most players are going to lose money and no matter how much effort you put in and research you conduct, you will have a bad week. What you have to learn is Money Management, the number 1 reason most sports gamblers lose isn’t because of bad picks, but rather poor money management. At the end of the day money management can make or break the best sports gamblers bank even during a winning week. Changing the amount of bet per game and weighing one game over another is a sure fire way to losing over an extended period of time.
Another formula for disaster is a lack of knowledge, most sports gamblers know just enough to get into trouble but they don’t understand the difference between knowledge in the NFL compared to knowledge to betting on the NFL. Having the ability to name both the starting lineup and backup lineman for a given team might help you win in fantasy football, but most likely won’t lead to covering a spread. What you need to understand is you are playing against other bettors who dedicate their lives to handicapping, studying trends, injuries and angles that lead to more victories compared to a weekend football fan. This is why it’s always good to find and trust someone who spends the time to study because a little advantage goes a long way.
For whatever reason, the majority of sports bettors feel that they have to bet on every game that is on TV. Years ago, this wasn’t as big of a deal with limited amount of games televised compared to today’s numerous options; but don’t fall into the trap of playing every game at your finger tips (MNF, Thursday/Saturday/Sunday night games). Oddsmakers and sportsbooks know and understand betting habits and know that games televised will have more action; remember your playing against the house to cover not win the game!
We will all experience both winning streaks and losing streaks, but it takes tremendous mental stability to ride both waves. No matter how the cards/plays are dealt, you must forget them and move onto the next day and not dwell. The NFL season is a marathon and not a 1-time race, the object is to make money over the long run.
Truth be told that without sports gambling, we wouldn’t have sports. That might sound like a bold statement, but as much of a rabid fan you might be for your team, the true reason why an average of 10 million+ viewers watch Monday Night Football every week is because 80% have action on the game! They say “Money Makes the World Go Around”, well the truth is “Sports Gambling Makes the NFL Season Go Around”, so play wise and good luck!
