I'm fortunate enough to read numerous newspapers everyday around the country to get a better feel for the sports teams in that city. The Seattle Times has been a favorite newspaper of mine for some time, and here's a great article from Steve Kelley called Misery Road.
You think your sports teams are going through a down cycle right now, try being a sports fan in Seattle. Football season is here, but the Seattle Seahawks opened the year by getting pummeled by Buffalo, 34-10. The Washington Huskies are 0-2, and have a brutal home game against Oklahoma scheduled next. Head coach Tyrone Willingham is already on the hot seat, and this figures on being his last season in the Pacific Northwest.
The misery hasn't been limited to the football field. The Seattle SuperSonics have picked up and left to Oklahoma City, and the Mariners are currently 30 1/2 games out of first place and playing out the string.
