My name is Jason Been, and will do my best to provide you with my unique perspective on my methods of producing winners in the NFL and NCAA. I worked as an Oddsmaker for Las Vegas Sports Consultants from 1998-2009 and our company set the opening line for over 90% of the sportsbooks in Nevada and at points throughout those years helped lotteries in several states. I was hired by Michael "Roxy" Roxborough, the company founder after I graduated from UNLV.
Winning at sports isn't necessarily comparing the players of both teams. That method is done easily, and with the advent of the internet, blogs and the access to breaking news on a near real-time basis makes that method easy to come to the right number. My strength at Las Vegas Sports Consultants was being able to disect value in both creating and analyzing line movement. In my time there, and in my secondary income of wagering on value I have an incredible feel for market conditions, and that translates to picking up value and showing a long term profit.
A couple examples are being ahead of weather conditions on totals early in the week when the market opens, studying possible weakeness in field conditions and other factors not commonly looked at. Also, finding value in pure numbers is a way to finding an edge. My understanding of the difference a half-point can make sometimes turns no play into a solid play.
Along with my regular plays look for additional recommendations on NFL teasers, good first half opportunities and some underdog moneylines that have done well for me over the years. I know getting the views of a former Oddsmaker for the premier firm in the world will bring both a profit and a better understanding of how the sports betting market operates.
