There was a lot of talk about the Phillies most likely to acquire the A.L. Strkeout leader A.J. Burnett. But the Jays wanted too much in return, and the Phillies just weren't willing to give too much for a 2nd tier starter like Burnett.
So they turn to J.Blanton. Who immediately takes over for sorry A.Eaton. Is he an upgrade? Maybe, but he's certainly not a #3 or #4 for that matter. He'll eat up innings in the 5th spot, but he's going to give up runs as well. Is that much differnt than Eaton?
They have time and they better come up with something. They need another lefty to come out of the bullpen to help out J.C. Romero. So I think that's the next move. But is their a starter out there? I don't think so.
After the Phills fail this year, maybe just maybe they will go hard after a C.C. Sabathia or a B.Sheets. Both will be leaving Milwaukee at the end of the season and would make a great partner next to C.Hamels. Then again, maybe B.Myers will finally come through.
