Chad Brown wins two stakes at Belmont

NEW YORK (AP) - Trainer Chad Brown swept both $150,000 turf stakes for 2-year-olds with heavy favorites in races run over a yielding course Monday at Belmont Park.
Both the Pilgrim and the Miss Grillo for fillies were rescheduled from Sunday to the Columbus Day card to avoid inclement weather. The two stakes guaranteed the winners spots in the Breeders' Cup next month at Santa Anita.
Noble Tune beat Notacatbutallama by 2 1/2 lengths in the Pilgrim to remain unbeaten in two starts. He ran the 1 1-16 miles in 1:47.81 with Ramon Dominguez aboard, paying $4.60 to win.
Watsdachances extended her winning streak to three with a 2 1/4 length victory over Sustain in the Miss Grillo. Javier Castellano rode as she ran the same distance in 1:47.90, paying $4.40 to win.
Also on the card, trainer Todd Pletcher sent out the 1-2 finishers in the $150,000 Pebbles Stakes for 3-year-old fillies on the grass as Peace Preserver rallied past Channel Lady by 6 1/2 lengths. She paid $6.60 to win the mile run in 1:38.40 with John Velazquez in the saddle.
