Skier Bode Miller's horse wins at Hollywood Park

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) - Carving beat Fury Kapcori by a half-length to win the $100,000 Real Quiet Stakes for Olympic skier Bode Miller at Betfair Hollywood Park on Saturday.
Ridden by Martin Garcia, Carving ran 1 1/16 miles on Cushion Track in 1:46.04 and paid $4.20, $3 and $2.40 as the 11-10 favorite. Miller co-owns the 2-year-old colt with Jill Baffert, the wife of Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert.
``So psyched on that huge win!'' Miller tweeted.
Baffert also trained last year's Real Quiet winner Liaison. He trained the race's namesake Real Quiet, who won the 1998 Kentucky Derby and Preakness.
Fury Kapcori returned $5 and $3, while Dirty Swagg was another half-length back in third and paid $5.40 to show.
Carving earned a victory at his third different track, having won at Del Mar and Fairplex Park in Pomona. He has three wins in four career starts and earnings of $129,900. He was purchased for $55,000 earlier this year.
Baffert said Carving might run in the $750,000 CashCall Futurity on Dec. 15.
``I'm going to run as many as I can in that. I'll try to load the gate up,'' the trainer said. ``I have a lot of nice ones. (Carving) has been a fun horse because he always runs better than he trains. Everyone in the barn has outworked him. He's been a real surprise to me.''
