Smiling Tiger ends 6-race skid at Hollywood Park

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) - Smiling Tiger ended a six-race skid with a one-length victory in the $100,000 Vernon O. Underwood Stakes at Betfair Hollywood Park on Sunday.
Ridden by Rafael Bejarano, Smiling Tiger ran six furlongs on Cushion Track in 1:11.24 and paid $5.40, $3.20 and $2.20 as the 17-10 favorite in the Grade 3 race.
Canada-bred Private Zone returned $7.40 and $4.40 in his first graded stakes in the U.S., while Capital Account was another half-length back in third and paid $2.60 to show.
Smiling Tiger was coming off a third-place finish in the Breeders' Cup Sprint last month at Santa Anita. He has nine wins in 23 career starts and earnings of $1,480,704.
Trainer Jeff Bonde said Smiling Tiger would be pointed to the Dubai World Cup in March.
Trainer Doug O'Neill saddled three winners on the card.
