Captaintreacherous voted Pacer of Year

FREEHOLD, N.J. (AP) - Captaintreacherous has been voted Pacer of the Year after a campaign of eight wins in 10 races in 2012.
The pacer becomes the first 2-year-old in 25 years to win the award after receiving 48 of 146 votes in balloting Wednesday by the U.S. Harness Writers Association.
Michael's Power was second with 24 votes, followed by American Jewel (21) and Foiled Again (20).
Among Captaintreacherous' victories were the Metro Pace and the Woodrow Wilson. The pacer earned $918,253.
Other pacing awards went to Heston Blue Chip (3-year-old male pacer), Somwherovrarainbow (2-year-old female), American Jewel (3-year-old female), Foiled Again (older male) and Anndrovette (older female).
Horse of the Year will be announced Thursday.
