At the Gate - Friday
The rain came yesterday at the Big A, washing a couple of races off the turf. After scratches we managed four winners on top on the nine race card along with my second choice winning four more of the races.
It looks like more of the same as far as the weather goes for Friday, and I am assuming we are going to be off the turf and there is a good chance we are going to see a wet track.
However, things will clear up for the weekend, and we have plenty of action including the last two major Kentucky Derby preps.
The $1 million Arkansas Derby at Oaklawn Park and the $750,000 Toyota Blue Grass each has 170 points up for grabs. The top two finisher sin each race are assured a starting spot on Derby Day.
I finished up my Keeneland Report for Saturday last night, and it is a good one. There are 12 races including a total of five stakes.  None of the stakes have a standout, and we should be able to catch a few decent prices.
In addition to Keeneland on Saturday I will have my full card report for Aqueduct, and Saturday’s Best Plays Report will be lengthy. I will include the stakes action and my strongest plays for Keeneland, Aqueduct and Oaklawn Park.

Here is today’s opening from Aqueduct to get the day off to a good start:
AQU Race 1 Clm $12,500N2L (12:50 ET)
6 Unlimited Power   5-2
7 Sokitumi Samurai   2-1
1 In Todd We Trust   7-2
5 Potus    3-1
Analysis: Unlimited Power ships in from Florida where last out the gelding checked in third after battling for the early lead as the 6-5 chalk facing $20,000 non-winners of two going a one turn mile. The gelding cuts back to a sprint as he makes his first start for the Galluscio barn that is 18% winners (with a +ROI) first off the claim. This guy was on the bench for 1 1/2 years and ran second in his first two trips off the long layoff versus a bit tougher than these, a fourth in his return and a fifth trying grass two back where he was off to a tough start. The cut back suits and he finds a soft spot for his local debut. This guy has a strong off track pedigree and the forecast does not look good for today.
Sokitumi Samurai set the early fractions and weakened to finish fourth last out going a route on the inner track at this level. The Adirondack Express came back to beat $20,000 non-inners of two in his next outing on April 3. The gelding cuts back to a sprint here in his second start off the claim by the Guillo barn. He ran well in his last sprint, missing beating $50,000 maiden claimers by a nose last May.
WIN: #6 to win at 2-1 or better.
EX: 6,7 / 1,5,6,7
TRI: 6,7 / 1,5,6,7 / 1,2,5,6,7
Today's Featured Race of the Day from Aqueduct:
AQU Race 8 OClm $14,000N1X (4:27 ET)
9 Boldchildsrevenge   15-1
8 Hundred Acre Wood   5-2
5 Ibid    2-1
2 Pumpkin Lane   8-1
Analysis: Boldchildsrevenge set the early fractions and backed up to finish sixth last out against $25,000 starter optional claimers. The filly caught a racing strip that was playing to outside stalkers and closers that day. She is back with state breds here and owns solid early and mid pace numbers and is bred to handle a wet track. She broke her maiden over a muddy surface and she is going to be a decent price in this spot.
Hundred Acre Wood stalked the early pace and made a good rally but could not get to the gate to wire winner who was taking full advantage of an inside speed favoring racing strip. This gal broke her maiden over an off track and is back with state breds here. The barn has struggled in '13 but if she runs back to her last effort she fits well in this spot.
WIN: #9 to win at 6-1 or better.
EX: 8,9 / 2,5,8,9
TRI: 8,9 / 2,5,8,9 / 2,3,5,8,9
Live Longshots:
These are price plays for exotic players looking to find a couple of extra contenders to use in their trifecta and superfecta wagers. Or for those with smaller bankrolls, you might want to get in a small win-place wager.
R2: #1 City Vice   10-1
R4: #3 Wild Siren   20-1
R5: #4 Vizir   12-1
R6: #1 Keep Me Informed   10-1
R6: #6 Ea   8-1
R8: #9 Boldchildsrevenge   15-1
R8: #2 Pumpkin Lane   8-1
Good luck today!
