Horse Races Today: Friday’s Gulfstream Park Analysis & Odds

Horse Racing Action at TVG!
With just a handful of tracks still in action we got some good news the past couple of days about two of those racetracks extending their meetings.

Fonner Park, a minor track located in Nebraska received approval for 12 additional race dates which will extend racing at the track until May 31. The track is running from Monday to Wednesday each week.

Tampa Bay Downs announced yesterday that they received permission to extend their meeting until May 30.

We could see a few tracks open in May, including Santa Anita. The Stronach Group is in discussions with the Los Angeles County Health Department and County Supervisor Kathryn Barger.

I am anxious to see racing in New York return, but it seems likely June might be the earliest. Saratoga is scheduled to start in July.

In the meantime I’ll stick mainly with Gulfstream Park, which has benefited from most tracks being closed. The field sizes continue to be strong, and it is the same at Oaklawn Park and Tampa Bay Downs which has seen field size increase.

Horseplayers can stream all the horse racing action using the Watch TVG App. The horse betting company based in the U.S. is offering a risk free bet up to $300 for new players.

Gulfstream Park Race 1 Analysis - 4/24

GP Race 1 Md $16,000 (1:00 ET)
#9 First in Line 9-2
#8 Florida Express 12-1
#6 Sultannes Crown 8-1
#2 Plan of Attack 6-1

Analysis: First in Line
had to steady while caught in tight in between foes shortly after the break, stalked the early pace and made a mild late bid to finish fourth last out in his second career start. The gelding was seventh in his debut against $50,000 foes. He has a decent enough turf pedigree, by Uncle Mo out of a War Front mare, her first foal to race. He is in good hands with the Weaver barn and Saez sticks. A better start makes him a player in this spot.

Florida Express makes his local debut after three trips at Tampa Bay Downs. Last out he made a mild late run to finish fourth. The runner up Danceronthebeach came back to graduate in his next outing on April 11 against $32,000 foes. The Manning trainee drops into a softer spot here. He is out of a stakes placed Kafwain mare that has dropped two winners including one turf winner.

Today’s Featured Race of the Day from Gulfstream Park:

Gulfstream Park Featured Race of the Day - 4/24

GP Race 8 OClm $75,000N1X (4:46 ET)
#5 Skye Snow 6-1
#2 Secret Stash 9-2
#7 Apogee 10-1
#3 Eve of War 9-5

Analysis: Skye Snow
was a good looking maiden winner last out in her second career start on turf and third overall. She made a good late rally to get up and win by 3/4 of a length, rallying into a pretty sot second quarter. She was a game second two back at Fair Grounds in her first start on turf. The winner of that race as Hendy Woods, who came back to beat Alw-1 foes in her next start on March 15 at Fair Grounds. The $250,000 Keeneland purchase faces winners for the first time here and looks up to it.

Secret Stash put in a solid effort in her first go off a 4 1/2 month break in the Florida Oaks (G3). She raced near the back of the pack early, angled to the inside and then shifted out three wide into the stretch to rally to finish third, beaten 1 3/4 lengths. She was only beaten 1 1/4 lengths in a fifth-place finish in the Natalma (G1) at Woodbine last September in her first start in North America. She makes her second start off the bench here for Casse and looks well spotted here dropping out of graded stakes company.

Live Longshots:
These are price plays for exotic players looking to find a couple of extra contenders to use in their trifecta and superfecta wagers. Or for those with smaller bankrolls, you might want to get in a small win-place wager.
