Post Parade: Sunday's edition
January 15, 2006
By P.D. Mahalik VegasInsider.com
January 13, 2005 the Gulfstream Park Pick Pack produced seven winners from the 10-race program. Of those seven winners there were six winners that were top pick winners; $11.60, $ 4.00, $4.20, $6.20, $10.20, and $6.40. The return on investment for top picks alone was 113 percent.
Unlike the previous outing where we had obscene prices and a huge return on investment with Pick 3s, the Pick 3s from the January 13, 2005 outing produced a couple of Pick 3s that could be described as anemic. Those prices were $17.70 and $15.60. The good news is, that because I recommend a couple of singles, the bet only cost you three dollars. I hit both doubles on that same card at $85.40, and $48.00 and those are some nice prices.
Both doubles were solved on the January 14, 2006 card as well at $25.20 and $72.80, but that is about all I can brag about. The top picks came within $2.20 of breaking even for the day.
I am still on the road. This will be my last day for a while. I am going to cut this short and get some breakfast.
Here is the teaser for today’s opener at Gulfstream Park.
Race 1 - 1 Mile - Dirt. MAIDEN CLAIMING. Purse $22;000 FOR MAIDENS; THREE YEAR OLDS. Weight; 122 lbs. Claiming Price $62;500; For Each $2;500 To $57;500 1 lb. -
6 RUNNIN TO THE BAR 12/1 *** every GP meet, Gary Bain brings home a huge price, and this could be the one. There is one recent decent speed rating in the last four races. There is demonstrated pace early and at mid race. It earned five or more Quirin speed points out of a possible eight points.
9 SHARP 4/1 tops the power scale by two or more points compared to the next closest contender on the power scale. It recorded the best turn time of all the contenders its last race on this surface. It earned the best BRIS rating in the last race on this surface compared to the last race of all the other contenders on this surface. (Fastest Last) It earned five or more Quirin speed points out of a possible eight points.
7 TERRI’S T BIRD 5/2 It ran three of the best speed ratings in the last four races when you compare the last four speed ratings of all the others at this distance and surface. Of those three, one was fastest last, a tie. There is demonstrated pace throughout the race stages. It owns the best pace at mid race.
10 SILVER FLASH 12/1 is the MMTRX top pick, and is ranked first using the Sartin methodology. It recorded the best second call velocity its last outing on this surface. This one recorded the BEST Sartin Average Pace and Sustained Pace. It ran two of the best speed ratings in the last four races when you compare the last four speed ratings of all the others at this distance and surface. There is demonstrated pace early and at mid race.
3 SUAVE BARON 8/1 This One earned nine or more Mahalik closing points and that unique profile could give it an advantage over the others. It ran three of the best speed ratings in the last four races when you compare the last four speed ratings of all the others at this distance and surface. There is demonstrated pace in the stretch run.
Recommend using all of these in doubles combinations with my picks from Race 2 that pay $50 or more. Use my top pick with the others on my short list in a part-wheel box...6/3-7-9-10 box.
See you tomorrow and good luck today.
