W e made it five straight days at Saratoga with my top picks producing a profit, three on top that produced a +226% +ROI for the day.
I mentioned yesterday that the Thursday card looked on the chalky side, but I sure was wrong.
All three of my winners went off higher than their morning line, which was quite surprising.
My three winners on top were Mona From Deltona ($15.60), who had a morning line of 6/1, Scientist ($30.40), who drifted up from a morning line of 9/2, and Dark Equation ($19.00), who was 5/1 on the morning line.
Don’t forget I also whined about the steeplechase race being part of the late Pick 4. So what do I do? I don't play the Pick 4 and I nail the $19.00 winner in the jump race.
I still would not have had the Pick 4. D.Wayne Lukas sent out first timer Be Smart to win the ninth race, paying $100.00 to win.
The hall of fame trainer went into the race having hit with just 1 of his last 61 first time starters.
There is a 2:45 ET post time today, the last Friday of the Spa meeting. Closing day is Monday, with Belmont Park opening next Friday.

Here is the opening from Saratoga to get our day off to a good start:
SAR Race 1 Clm $60,000 (2:45 et) #8 No More Green 5/1 #7 Titan of Industry 2/1 #1 Formal King 9/2 #2 Crimson Comic 8/1
Analysis: #8 No More Green came out on the short end of a three way photo last out in his first go on turf, beaten a head and a nose for the top spot against $35K non winners of three. The colt drew a bum post and raced wide much of the trip, coming with a six wide run into the stretch. Draws a better post here and picks up CVel, who has been on six of Tony D.'s seven wins at this meeting. The colt has the pedigree to do some running on turf, three of his sibs are turf winners and he is also a half to dirt stakes winner Desert Gold ($243K).
#7 Titan of Industry was a game second last out against $35K non winners of two and appears to be heading in the right direction. Now he goes for Maker barn that is 30% winners first off the claim. Two back the gelding set the early fractions before weakening to finish fifth behind repeat winner Summer Patriot, who won the Johns Call in his next outing on 8/17.
Wagering WIN: #8 to win at 3/1 or better. EX: 7,8 / 1,2,7,8 TRI: 7,8 / 1,2,7,8 / 1,2,6,7,8
Today’s Featured Race From Saratoga:
SAR Race 7 With Anticipation (6:03 et) #2 Bittel Road 2/1 #4 Double Domino 6/1 #5 Herr Mozart 4/1 #3 Uncle T Seven 12/1
Analysis: #2 Bittel Road went gate to wire top break his maiden going six furlongs on the turf at Belmont and was just under a hand ride and shown the whip in the stretch. The colt was a 4340K purchase and has enough pedigree to handle the stretch out, by Storm Atlantic out of a Sultry Song mare. He is one of three in here sent out by Pletcher and Johnny V., who was aboard all three lands on the morning line fav here.
#4 Double Domino was a sharp winner in his debut for Pletcher. The colt had to steady briefly at the half mile pole, took command in mid stretch and drew off smartly. The colt is also by Stormy Atlantic. The mare has dropped three other foals to race, one winner, Not On My Turf, who won once on turf and won four route races on dirt. Pletcher is 23% winners moving runners from sprint to route.
Wagering WIN: #2 to win at 9/5 or better. EX: 2,4 / 2,3,4,5 TRI: 2,4 / 2,3,4,5 / 1,2,3,4,5
