W e got untracked on Sunday at Keeneland with four winners on top on the card including Acadia Breeze at $24.20.
During the opening three days of the meeting, we saw five runners go gate to wire, but there still seemed to be an advantage to off the pace types over the polytrack surface.
On Friday, I had the track labeled fair. On Saturday, I rated the edge to horses off the rail, with the three to four paths the best place to be.
On Sunday, I had the surface rated to favorite outside stalkers and closers, with the three to five paths the best.
The surface has generally given a good edge to stalkers and closers in previous meets since polytrack was installed, but I am not ready to stay away from solid horses with early speed, at least not yet.
There is rain in the forecast for today in Lexington, and it will be interesting to see if the surface plays any different with some moisture in it.

Here is the opening race from Belmont Park to get our day off to a good start:
BEL Race 1 Clm $14,000 (1:00 et) #9 True Rebel 3/1 #2 Masala T 6/1 #4 Akin 9/2 #7 Hepcat 6/1
Analysis: #9 True Rebel beat non winners of three in the slop last out at Philly and steps into open company here. Two of his three career wins have come over the main track here and the gelding owns a solid pace profile throughout. Three of his last four speed figs are good enough to beat this group.
#2 Masala T came off a 2 1/2 month break to beat non winners of two last out in his first start off the claim by Jacobson. The effort was flattered when the runner up Fly the North Wind came back to beat $15K non winners of two by 15 1/4 lengths on 10/2 and third place finisher #1 Lava Cat beat the same by a nose on 9/20. Barn goes with a seven pound bug that has won a couple of races for the barn.
Wagering WIN: #9 to win at 5/2 or better. EX: 2,9 / 2,4,7,9 TRI: 2,9 / 2,4,7,9 / 1,2,4,7,9
Today’s Featured Race From Belmont Park:
BEL Race 8 Alw $50,000s (4:45 et) #6 Dancing Tin Man 3/1 #8 The Shaughraun 10/1 #4 Miracle Hill 9/2 #1 Titan of Industry 7/2
Analysis: #6 Dancing Tin Man made a good late rally to finish in the runner up spot last out. His last win came over the turf here, beating $35K claimers. The five time turf winner finds a good spot here and CVel sticks for Donk barn that is having a tough luck meeting (21-1-4-5).
#8 The Shaughraun is back from Philly where the gelding overcame a tough post to rally late to beat $16K claimers. The third place finisher in the race was Perfect Arrival, who beat $20K claimers in his next outing at the Big M on 9/30. The seven pound bug and the low profile connections will assure we see a decent enough price on this guy.
Wagering WIN: #6 to win at 5/2 or better. EX: 6,8 / 1,4,6,8 TRI: 6,8 / 1,4,6,8 / 1,3,4,6,8
Today’s Featured Race From Keeneland:
KEE Race 8 OClm $80,000N$Y (4:40 et) #9 John's Road 3/1 #10 Run Alex Run 20/1 #5 Forty Grams 5/2 #1 Timbucto 10/1
Analysis: #9 John's Road did not fire his best last out at Arlington on turf in a stake, breaking last out finishing a non threatening eighth. Returns to poly here and this guy handled the synthetics well at both here, at Arlington and Presque Isle in previous outings. Two back at PI he was a game second, beaten a neck for the top spot against optional claimers. The winner of the race was Pforperfectpistol, who won a $50K Ohio bred stake in his next start at Thistledown on 8/31. The colt owns a solid pace profile throughout and looks tough here for Amoss.
#10 Run Alex Run set the early fractions and weakened to finish fourth last out at Arlington. The winner of the race was Lissa's Star, who came back to beat Alw-3 optional claimers in his next outing on 9/26 at Hawthorne. The colt owns solid early and mid pace numbers and fits here with his best. Worth tossing in the mix here at a generous price.
Wagering WIN: #9 to win at 5/2 or better. EX: 9,10 / 1,5,9,10 TRI: 9,10 / 1,5,9,10 / 1,4,5,9,10,11
Live Longshots: These are price plays for exotic players looking to find a couple of extra contenders to use in their trifecta and superfecta wagers. Or for those with smaller bankrolls, you might want to get in a small win-place wager.
