Remarkable Remy wins Pebbles Stakes

NEW YORK (AP) -Remarkable Remy rallied from 10th to win the $121,000 Pebbles Stakes for 3-year-old fillies by one length over Senior Rita Lady on Monday at Belmont Park.
Remarkable Remy, ridden by Ramon Dominguez, moved six-wide on the final turn and had the best finishing kick in a wide-open scramble to the wire.
``The first part of the race I was trying to make sure I got her behind some horses,'' said Dominguez. ``It took me a little while to be able to do that, but once I did, she settled down for me very well. On the turn, when I was able to get out, she really had a great response for me.''
The time was 1:35.65 for the one mile on the firm turf.
Trained by John Kimmel, Remarkable Remy got her fifth win in 12 starts, earning $72,600 for Live Oak Plantation.
Remarkable Remy paid $22, $11.40 and $7.10. Senior Rita Lady returned $20.20 and $12.80. Meriwether Jessica paid $6.90 to show.
Blitzen Too was fourth followed by Mousse au Chocolat, Fareena, Venetian Causeway, Mikeslittlegirl, Sales Tax, Zee Zee, Very Distinctive, and Saki to Me.
Jockey Norberto Arroyo Jr. escaped serious injury in the fifth race when his feet slipped out of the irons and he fell to the track.
