Legal Consent wins Mike Lee Stakes

NEW YORK (AP) -Legal Consent, the 1-5 favorite, held off Slevin by a half-length Sunday to win the $103,500 Mike Lee Stakes at Belmont Park.
The race kicked off the Big Apple Triple, a trio of stakes for 3-year-olds bred in New York. It continues with New York Derby at Finger Lakes on July 11 and concludes with the Albany Stakes at Saratoga on Aug. 26.
Legal Consent could earn a $250,000 bonus with a sweep. He took the first step with a game effort in the Lee.
Grabbing a narrow lead turning for home, Legal Consent and jockey Ramon Dominguez turned back several bids with Slevin the final challenger.
The victory, the third in a row, improved Legal Consent's record to 4-for-10. He earned $63,300 for Lansdon B. Robbins III, running the seven furlongs in 1:24.72 on the muddy track.
Legal Consent paid $2.60, $2.20 and $2.10. Slevin returned $3.50 and $2.40. That's Rich paid $2.90 to show. Lookin At Her was fourth followed by Monte Carlo.
