Macias wins Jack Goodman Stakes

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) -Bob Baffert-trained 2-year-old Macias held off Hurricane Ike by a neck Saturday in the $60,413 Jack Goodman Stakes.
Ridden by Garrett Gomez, the favored Macias took the lead going into the stretch, drew clear of the field and held of Hurricane Ike, covering six furlongs in 1:08.98.
Macias paid $4.20 and $2.80, and Hurricane Ike returned $4.20. There was no show betting after a pair of late scratches reduced the field to four.
It was the second victory in three starts and the first stakes win for Macias, a son of Purge owned by Zayat Stables.
The colt earned $36,987 for the win, taking his lifetime total to $67,547.
