Saginaw romps in the slop from Big A

NEW YORK (AP) -Saginaw romped in the slop at 3-5 on Saturday, beating Cat Three Approach by 6 1/4 lengths in the $43,120 allowance feature for New York breds at Aqueduct.
The race, originally scheduled for the turf, was shifted to the dirt. That opened the door for Saginaw who was entered to run only on the main track.
The 3-year-old has become a wet-track specialist for trainer Chad Brown. He has two wins and two seconds in the last four races, all in the slop. The time was 1:38.40 for the one mile.
Javier Castellano was aboard as Saginaw paid $3.20, $2.80 and $2.10. Cat Three Approach, the longest shot in the five-horse field at 14-1, returned $6.50 and $3.30. Captain Sword paid $2.90 to show.
