Five of the nine races on Sunday’s card at Aqueduct are stakes, part of the New York Stallion series of races for offspring of New York based stallions.
The first of the five is the Great White Way, which drew a compact field of six two years olds and looks like a showdown between Bongard winner Make Note and recent maiden winner Lord Jet.
I’m going to go with a Finger Lakes shipper that figures to be a big price.
The Staten Island also drew a small field, six fillies and mares going seven furlongs on the main track.
Four of the six have a legitimate shot of winning including the morning line favorite Mother Russia, a five time stakes winner.
The Cormorant is scheduled for the turf and drew a field of seven along with a pair of main track only runners.
We were off the turf on Saturday, but I am guessing we will be back on turf for this race.
The Fifth Avenue is one of the best wagering races on the card, drawing a field of ten two year old fillies.
Franny Freud, who flopped in the Frizette (G1) will appreciate the return to the restricted ranks in this spot.
The final stake on the program is the Thunder Rumble, which drew a field of eight three year olds and upward who will go seven panels.
Dr. D.F.C. is the 2/1 morning line favorite but has to cut back from nine furlongs to seven and has the look of a vulnerable favorite.

Here is today's opening race from Aqueduct to get our day off to a good start:
AQU Race 1 Clm $15,000 (12:30 ET)
#8 Red Hot Baby 4/1
#2 Driven by Seattle 7/5
#7 Navedano 12/1
#6 Sweet Bama Breeze 7/2
Analysis: #8 Red Hot Baby returns to the main track after getting outrun last out against state bred Alw-1 foes on the turf where the filly was caught very wide in a 11th place finish. The filly drops into a softer spot here tagged for just $15K and facing non-winners of three. Four back over a muddy surface that gal was a good second against Alw-1 state breds after setting the early fractions. The filly broke her maiden over the main track here and with her very weak turf pedigree, the surface switch here should suit.
#2 Driven by Seattle cuts back from a mile where she set the early fractions and weakened to finish third against $25K non-winners of three. She veered in sharply when shying away from tire tracks in the early going but recovered. The cut back in distance here fits as she beat state bred Alw-1 foes four back at today's six-furlong distance.
Wagering

Today's Featured Race of the Day from Aqueduct:
AQU Race 7 Fifth Avenue S. (3:16 ET)
#7 Franny Freud 4/1
#5 So N So 7/5
#3 Sugar Trade 8/1
#8 Embrace Change 6/1
Analysis: #7 Franny Freud found Grade 1 company and a mile too much and returns to the restricted ranks here. The filly was much the best last out at Finger Lakes winning the NY bred Lady Fingers in a smart win. The filly owns solid early and mid pace numbers and she figures to bounce back with a much better effort here facing an easier group.
#5 So N So is making her first start off a 2 1/2 month break. She went gate to wire to win the restricted Scribner last out over a nice filly in Mineralogist, who returned to win the Joe Gimma and the Maid of the Mist in her next two starts. Bush is always tough in these NY bred races and is 23% winners (with a +ROI) with horses coming back off a 61-180 day layoff.

Live Longshots:
These are price plays for exotic players looking to find a couple of extra contenders to use in their trifecta and superfecta wagers. Or for those with smaller bankrolls, you might want to get in a small win-place wager.
