--Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan is rumored to be leaving the Texans and joining his father, Mike Shanahan, with the Redskins. Mike Shanahan hasn't been officially hired by Washington, but it's one of the worst-kept secrets in sports. If Shanahan leaves, Gary Kubiak will be hiring his fourth offensive coordinator in five years. Troy Calhoun (Air Force) and Mike Sherman (Texas A and M) left for head-coaching jobs.
"We all know that's part of football and as far as Kyle or any coach I have, I want what's best for them," Kubiak said. "I think we've all known that if Mike gets back in the business, which it looks like he will, that his son coaching for him someday is very important to him.
"You can't help but hear this and that, but we don't talk about it. Kyle's doing a tremendous job. He's done a great job with Matt (Schaub)."
--WR Andre Johnson and the Texans' receivers have dropped fewer passes than any team in the league, according to STATS, Inc.
The Texans have thrown 483 passes, and 341 were catchable. Receivers have dropped only 14, or 4.1 percent.
Ranking behind the Texans are the Saints and Bears at 5 percent.
--Speaking of Andre Johnson, he leads the NFL with 1,433 yards. He had 1,575 yards last season. He has a chance to join Marvin Harrison (2001-02) as the only receivers in NFL history to have at least 1,500 yards in back-to-back seasons.
--The Texans rank fifth in yards after the catch. They have 1,818 after the catch, or 43.1 percent of their total. Ahead of them are the Cowboys (51.1), Colts (45.6), Saints (46.4) and Patriots (47.7).
