PLAYER NOTES
--QB Matt Schaub threw for 85 yards in the first half at Jacksonville and finished with 314 and two touchdowns. He didn't throw an interception and wasn't sacked. Schaub plays best when the offense is up-tempo and in a rhythm.
--WR Andre Johnson continues to excel even though he seldom practices because of a high ankle sprain. After catching nine passes for 146 yards at Jacksonville, he has 52 for 781 yards for the season.
--WR Kevin Walter didn't catch a pass in the last three games after a hot start. Matt Schaub went to him on the first series of the Jacksonville game. He had six catches for 90 yards and a touchdown. He said the difference was the Jaguars rolling coverage to Andre Johnson and giving him more opportunities.
--RB Arian Foster, the NFL's leading rusher, only got 15 carries against a Jacksonville defense designed to stop him. He gained 56 yards and averaged 3.7 a carry. He now has 920 yards and a 5.3-yard average. He's the second Texan to rush for 10 touchdowns in a season.
--OLB Brian Cushing returned to the strong side against Jacksonville and made nine unassisted tackles. He had one tackle for loss and had one hit on quarterback David Garrard. Cushing looked more comfortable. The defense was still terrible, allowing 491 yards.
--CB Glover Quin started the last 13 games of his rookie season in 2009. He didn't allow a touchdown pass. Now he's allowed four in nine games. Like the other defensive backs, he's not playing as well as last season. The pass rush has something to do with it. The Texans have five sacks in their last five games and 14 for the season.
